CBD Oil | What is it REALLY all about?

Hey fam! Today’s blog is all to do with setting the CBD Oil record straight. What it is, where it comes from and if it’s REALLY legal? Exactly my reaction when I first heard the words CBD oil and you guys are probably asking the same questions. There’s been so much in the press recently about the topic, I thought it was a good time to look to help you understand the whole thing a little bit better. I like to write from experience so let’s start with…

My Experience with CBD oil

I don’t take any medicine and am hardly ever unwell thanks to a whole food, plant based diet but there are times when things do happen so having a natural option available is needed. My first experience with it was last year when my grandmother was dying of lung cancer,we had no medication to give her as the medical service in Italy were not very helpful and left us with no pain relief. With no other option I gave her CBD oil when she complained of pain, easing that for her as well as help her fall asleep quickly. In her final hours she was in terrible pain which was the hardest thing to watch, giving her CBD oil calmed her very quickly and eventually helped her pass very peacefully. From that experienced I was amazed by the oil’s effects, so I definitly kept an open mind about it.

After my grandmothers passing I then suffered severe anxiety and insomnia, I found it extremely hard to function. I tried CBD oil as going to see my GP would have resulted in getting given anti-deppressants. Within a few days the anxiety was gone and I was sleeping like a baby. Now I use it here and there when I need it. It works a dream with period pains as well as when I had the flu, it cleared up my sinuses and helped me it sleep, and ideal for helping to relax after a high energy/stressful day.

I keep seeing this plant oil do really amazing things for myself and others. I can’t wait to see more of the research about it come though..

CBD Oil | What is it REALLY all about?

What is CBD Oil?

CBD oil, Cannabidiol, is a chemical compound, one of over 80 phytocannabinoids that is produced by the cannabis plant. There are two different types of CBD oil- hemp based (the one I am talking about in this blog) and marijuana based (the one that you nee to have prescribed) which both contain CBD, and both derived from the cannabis plant, but hemp and medical marijuana are are different varieties of the plant. Typically it is extracted from the resin glands on cannabis (marijuana) buds and flowers by steam distillation and can also be extracted from hemp, which is an industrial, fibrous form of cannabis that has small buds and the THC concentration of 0.3% or less. When the oil is mixed with a carrier oil like coconut oil or hemp oil, that is when you get CBD oil.

Does it make you high?

CBD oil interacts with the body by entering into the Eendocannabinoid system which is what is responsible for regulating the body’s internal balance. THC is the main psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis, and causes the sensation of getting “high” that’s often associated with marijuana. However, unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive, so the answer is NO it willl not get you high, there’s only a very small amount of THC in CBD oil.

Health benefits

Did you know marijuana has been used to treat pain as far back as 2900 B.C?  This is a plant that has been helping many over the years. You may have already heard many peoples experiences on the news and or simple from people you know, CBD oil is seems to be making quite a comeback. CBD oil is being used in the treatment of seizures, epilepsy, lowering blood-pressure, anxiety, depression, chronic pain relief, reduces inflammation with more and more research coming out by the day. As I mentioned before CBD oil has helped me personally with menstrual cramps, flu symptoms and general winding down, as I have a tendency to let my mind race late in the evening when I am supposed to be chilling out.

Is it Legal?

CBD oil is legal in the U.K and is available to buy as long as it has a 0.5% or less of THC. Any CBD product purchased in the UK is 100% legal as long as it was derived from one of the 63 EU approved industrial hemp strains. Cannabis is medically available in 23 states of the USA, Canada, Uruguay , Israel and decriminalised across much of Europe. A plant can only be legally considered hemp if it contains .3% per dry unit (or less) of the compound THC

Would it show up on a drug test?

As there are such low traces of THC, CBD oil will not show up in a drug test. You’d have to take a large dosage of around such as 1,000 to 2,000 milligrams per day which may trigger a positive result.

Side effects, Are there any?

CBD oil doesn’t have any major risks for people taking it. There are a few side effects to be aware of..

Nausea – Dry mouth – Drowsiness – Lightheadedness

Where do I Buy It?

CBD Oil | What is it REALLY all about?

When it comes to buying CBD oil you really need to know your stuff. The FDA has yet to approve any CBD products for any purpose, meaning that their production, labeling, and distribution aren’t subject to federal regulation. Finding a reputable company that make a high quality oil is really important.

I’ve been fortunate to try many different kinds of CBD oil and have quite a bit of experience with it. I have partnered up with a brand that I have worked very closely with over the past year. Kiki Health are a high quality manufacturer that make fantastic products throughout, I have used and always recommend their body biotics as well as other great supplements and now they have brought us high quality CBD oil.

So I am thrilled to now be selling it via my website along with a 10% off code honestlyalessandra that you can take advantage of.
