Now we’ve always heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but the belief of what is a “good” breakfast is having a large filling, heavy portion of either cooked or fried foods, to fill yourself up with and get you through the day, while some of us don’t have anything at all, doing more harm to oursleves than good! What we put into our bodies first thing is very important as it sets us up for the day ahead, so actually keeping it light and basic is one of the secrets to having a Good Morning! The Lemon Water Lowdown
Drinking a glass of Lemon water is the way to go, I literally can’t even think about my day ahead without it. The idea is to cleanse, detox and have optimum digestion to give you and your body the best possible start to the day. Lemon water helps the enzyme functions in your body by stimulating your liver and flushing out toxins. It’s important to get into the habit of allowing yourself to have as much of an elimination as possible first thing in the morning. This means that when you wake up, you really shouldn’t eat anything immediately as this would kick start digestion that will distract your body from getting rid of toxins meaning you missing out on all the wonderful benefits of the lemon water.
Lemon juice’s atomic structure is very similar to the digestive juices found in the stomach, which tricks the liver into producing bile, and keeps food moving through your body smoothly. The acids found in Lemon juice also encourages your body to process all the nutrients in foods slower. This slow absorption keeps insulin levels steady meaning your body getting maximised nutrients from the foods that you consume throughout the entire day.

The Lemon Water Prep
- Boil water in a pan or boil the kettle, whatever way your used to.
- Squeeze the lemon and get all the juice and pulp out, remove any seeds.
- Allow the water to cool down a little before pouring in with the lemon juice as if it is too hot it will kill all of the vital vitamins and nutrients.
Tip: If your in a rush and have’nt got time to wait for the water to cool down, I would normally pour in cold water, about a 1/4 of the glass, and then add in the hot water.

Let this be the first thing you have in the morning, and don’t eat anything for at least one hour after you wake up, to allow your body to use this time to detox and rejuvenate. Be gentle to your digestive system and let the first things you eat be fruits and juices that are easy and quick to digest as your digestive system is waking up too, just like you.
