Must have Morning Green Smoothie Recipe

Happy New Year you guys! Welcome to 2018 I can’t believe we are back in January again, how fast did that go! Well this is always the time of year where we look back at ourselves and our health and are prepared to make a few changes and goals. Especially when we think back to how much we’ve consumed over Christmas. I’m not gonna lie, I went all out, but I fully enjoyed myself lol. So with this weeks smoothie I wanted to give you guys something you could easily incorporate into your lives that will get you on the road to better health.

I make my Must have Morning Green Smoothie Recipe every morning which is what i recommend for you guys. I want you to drink your green smoothie every morning before anything, unless of course you’re already having your water and lemon then drink the green smoothie after. This was the first change I made on my journey to being plant-based and i have always stuck to it, in fact i can’t live with out it anymore. Everything slowly and naturally changed for me from then on and I know the same will happen for you. The reason why it’s so important to have your green smoothie first thing is that your stomach is empty ,after digestion is freed up over night. All the nutrients can get into our system quickly by getting absorbed instantly.

A smoothie jam packed with a variety of greens will flood your body with all the nutrients, vitamins, minerals and enzymes that it needs to start a new day! Greens have the highest most valuable nutrients than any food on the planet. Blending allows you to have the full spectrum of nutrients as your not removing any part of the vegetable or fruit! The fiber is needed to help keep your digestive tract clean by passing through the toxins on a regular basis! Fiber also keeps you feeling more full through the day which will help you avoid heavier more acidic foods!

Another amazing morning addition is lemon and water. My Lemon Water Morning Ritual explains it all, even how to prepare it.

Spinach

The most nutritious food in the world! High in vital anti-oxidant vitamins A, C and vitamin K which plays a vital role in strengthening bone mass. Spinach is also high in manganese as well as being a great source of omega-3 fatty acids

Lemon  juice

Lemons are high in vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant protecting your body from many diseases. They also increase the absorption of iron which is ideal paired with the variety of the greens in this smoothie. Lemons are great for cleansing , perfect for your morning green as they help loosen toxins in the digestive tract, flushing them out stimulating the liver. Setting up your digestive system for the day ahead!

Celery

Celery is another great one for the liver, helping reduce dangerous fat- buildup. It also prevents and reduces ulcers by protecting the lining of the digestive tract. Celery is also full of antioxidants which makes celery useful for treating conditions that are made worse by inflammation like IBS, skin disorders and urinary tract disorders.

Ginger

It’s pungent flavor and aroma comes from gingers natural oils which is where most of gingers medicinal properties are found. Gingerol being the most important as it’s where gingers anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties are found, keeping risks of cancer, infections, indigestion, Alzheimer’s and high cholesterol at bay.  This spice is also fantastic for preventing nausea, reducing muscle pain and menstrual cramps. I would normally grate and drink it in a tea or inhale the essential oil…..deeply! It works a treat!

Lettuce

This one is a must have in this smoothie as the lettuce leaf is full of vitamins that protect and help our bodies run properly! The two antioxidants Vitamin A and C in romaine lettuce protects us against any heart related disease. Protects our eye sight, skin, keeps bones strong, protects against cancer and arthritis. Any lettuce is great for getting things moving in the digestive tract and pushing toxins out so if you don’t have romaine every time you can use another. Remember the darker and more bitter the better.

Banana

Bananas are low in fat and high in nutrition, in fact can actually aid in weight loss while keeping your bowls regular and healthy! So if you have a sweet tooth, a well ripe banana will satisfy that craving! Rich in potassium and electrolytes bananas are also good for your heart and contain vitamins A, B, E, K and C.

Kale

our natural detoxifying friend! The large amounts of sulfur compounds found in kale help support our bodies detoxification process at cellular level. Kale also has the perfect Omega 3 and 6 ratio making it a powerful anti-inflammatory agent and contains the 3 most important antioxidant vitamins C, A and K. Which help counteract the damage caused by free radicals, protecting our hearts and protecting us against cancer.
