Blueberry Beetroot Blast Smoothie Recipe

How pretty is this week’s smoothie! So pretty that I wanna drink it all and not share it with anyone lol. What I will share though is the recipe so you can go ahead and make it yourself! My Blueberry Beetroot Blast Smoothie is really grounding and earthy, perfect for giving your body a blast of high nutrients. I know every now my body craves this one!


Firstly, go organic. I know we can’t always afford to purchase all of our products from the organic section but there are fruits and veggies that we should always try to buy organic and blueberries are definitely one of them.

Take a look at the dirty dozen list which is a list of foods, that has been published by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), of the foods that are more important to buy organic (clean 15 )  and the foods that are less important to get organic (dirty dozen). This will help us avoid a vast majority of pesticides (which are neurotoxic and can build up in our bodies, causing reproductive, endocrine and other kinds of damage) which need to be avoided in order to keep us healthy and beautiful from the inside out!

This fruit is bursting with nutrients as well as containing a broad range of antioxidants. The ORAC score is an incredible 9,621, making it one of the highest antioxidant foods in the world! Blueberries are rich in proanthocyanidin, contributing to blueberry benefits that include fighting cancer, losing weight and glowing, young skin. One nutritional component of blueberries that really stands out is gallic acid which is a powerful anti fungal/antiviral agent and super rich in vitamin C, K, manganese, all building a healthy, heart, beautiful skin and boost the brain.


This earthy vegetable may not be something you would think to blend and drink. In fact you might not have even got use to eating them and probably think they are kinda gross, but I can tell you that if you just be patient with them then I promise you will get use to them, even grow to love them like I have. I can tell you I was never a fan of beetroot, especially raw ones but now I just can’t get enough. Maybe knowing all the health benefits of beetroots will give you that push, this method is how I motivate myself to eat certain things I may not like.

Heart Health

Beetroots are rich in nitrate. Our body converts nitrates into nitric oxide, a chemical thought to lower blood pressure.  A reduction in blood pressure is beneficial for the avoidance of heart disease and stroke.


Beets thin bile (which is an alkaline fluid that aids digestion and is secreted by the liver and stored in the gallbladder). This means, improving liver function and increasing detoxification. This is what we need to gain beauty from within!

Beautiful Skin

Beetroots stimulate cell production and repair keeping your skin firm and youthful. Their powerful antioxidants help protect your skin from premature ageing and wrinkles. Beetroots are a fantastic cleansing food which helps create beautiful, glowing skin.

  • 1 cup of blueberries
  • 1 beetroot
  • A handful of fresh spinach
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of spring water

  1. Place all of the ingredients into the blender and blend at high speed until smooth.
  2. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
