I hope you guys are having a wonderful holiday where ever you are and what ever you are doing. I’m at home with the family. There’s nothing more that I love then a full house, full of food, laughter and love. Creating memories. I also love this time of year as I get a chance to play around with all different spices and fruits, one of my fav combos, and today I thought I’d share one of my personal favourite teas.

My Festive Pomegranate, Apple Spiced Mulled Tea Recipe I love to drink after all of the eating that happens this time of year, as it is great for digestion and perfect for relaxing you, while you cozy up for the evening. It will go down well with your guests too! I was inspired for this when I was on a recent trip to Gdansk, Poland where I had a delicious orange cream spice tea in one of their famous chocolate/ tea lounges , E.Wedel.  I’m not kidding you guys I went back every single day, obsessed! So I had to try to make my version and what better time than over Chritmas, I hope you guys love it!

Cloves

are known to have antiseptic, anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Great for helping shift and prevent a nasty flu or sore throat as we don’t want to be dealing with any of that over the holidays!!

Nutmeg

is such an amazing spice and you only need a very small amount to get all the benefits! Not only does it soothe digestion it relieves pain, boosts skin health, detoxifys the body, reduces insomnia and improves blood circulation!

Anise

is abundant in minerals like copper, potassium, manganese, zinc, magnesium and iron and also contains the antioxidant vitamins C and A. This spice also  helps with digestion issues such as bloating, nausea and intergestion and also relives asthma and bronchitis cough.

Ginger

It’s pungent flavor and aroma comes from gingers natural oils which is where most of gingers medicinal properties are found, gingerol being the most important as it’s where gingers anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties are found, keeping risks of cancer, infections, indigestion, Alzheimer’s and high cholesterol at bay. This spice is also fantastic for preventing nausea, reducing muscle pain and menstrual cramps. I would normally grate and drink it in a tea or inhale the essential oil…..deeply! Its works a treat!

Cardamon

great to help ease bloating, heartburn, nausea, acidity and aid the digestion process.  Cardamom is another great detoxifying spice as it helps the body eliminate waste through the kidneys and cleans out the urinary tract and bladder!

Cinnamon

is packed with antioxidants, is anti microbial, anti diabetic, anti inflammatory, heart protecting, has cancer fighting abilities and immune boosting properties! A little goes a long way, only half a teaspoon daily is going to give you these positive effects!

Apple Cider Vinegar

Contains proteins, enzymes and friendly bacteria which is why it can look cloudy or murky. This is called ‘the mother’ and is important to always buy the one with it in.  Apple cider vinegar fights against diabetes, lowers blood sugar levels, lowers cholesterol and reduces risks of heart disease! Some studies have even shown that it can kill cancer cells and shrink tumers!

Pomegranate

Are definitely among the healthiest fruits on the planet full of antioxidants and flavonoids pomegranates prevent many cancers, lowers blood pressure, protects your heart, fights bacterial infections, improves memory and reduces, arthritis and joint pain! Pomegranites contain vitamins C,E,K and A as well as Folic acid.

Directions

  1. Start by washing the Orange as we will be using the whole orange. When washed, cut the orange in whole slices and peel the ginger and cut into small cubes. Then set aside.
  2. Now I like to make my own fruit juices as it’s very hard to get 100% these days. So I just blend the fruit in this case pomegranite with 3 parts spring water and then the same for the apple juice.
  3. Next pour the pomegranate, apple juice and apple cider vinegar into a pan and heat.
  4. Once the water is simmering add all ingredients just leave a couple of slices of the orange for decoration at the end.
  5. Leave to simmer for around 7-8 mins
  6. Serve each drink and decorate with the left over orange

Side note – If you want it slightly sweeter then just add a little more of the sugavida or other sweeter you are using
