Getting a jar of nuts and seeds together before you dash out of the door is something you can easily do. Nuts and seeds are full of good fats and a great source of protein. Not to mention the array of important vitamins and minerals. Eating nuts and seeds will help nourish red blood cells, maintain brain function, and fight excess inflammation, all while you are getting on with your work day!

When that mid afternoon sweet craving kicks in, dried fruit is a great snack to have handy at your desk. Not only will they satisfy your sweet tooth they will give you a little pick me up as they contain little to no fat and have a good serving of calories making them a natural source of energy. Seaweed

Seaweed is a great healthy snack to have at your desk. You won’t need to worry about adding any extra pounds on the next time you jump on the scales either as seaweed is low in fat and controls your appetite! Which is what we need if we are spending the majority of the day sitting with very little movement. Seaweed is also packed with many minerals like iron and calcium. Vitamins A, C, E, K and B and soluble fibre which controls blood sugar levels and keeps bowls moving.

Keep hydrated

Did you know the majority of the time when you feel your stomach growl with hunger you are probably dehydrated. Most of us don’t drink near enough of the amount of water we are supposed to. I am so guilty of this! Dehydration symptoms include constipation, thirst, dry skin, a sluggish feeling, dizziness, dry eyes and decreased urine output. Aim to drink 8oz of water a day to keep your body hydrated!

Raw Chocolate

Let’s face it there comes that point in the day when you just want an indulgent piece of chocolate. Sometimes that moment comes when you are bang in the middle of your work day so grabbing the right sweet treat is very important! Chocolate bars that we’re used too actually contain very little chocolate (cacao), are full of chemicals, additives and dangerous ingredients. I know how difficult it can be when you are in a rush and just want to quickly get something. Being prepared with raw chocolate is a really great tip. I normally buy in bulk (it’s cheaper too) and make sure I pop one in my bag before I dash out of the door in the morning. Raw chocolates contain only natural ingredients, have all of their nutritional value giving  you many health benefits as well as satisfaction!

Switching to these sorts of snack will help keep your energy up and blood sugar stable during an afternoon slump. Do you have any great healthy plant based desk snack ideas? Share them by commenting below so.
