Bee Pollen Protein Shake Recipe

I’m a huge fan of my chocolate protein shakes, they are always my go to after a workout particularly my Cacao Protein Packed Smoothiebut recently I’ve wanted to change it up and what better way to then with an amazing super food, bee pollen. Bee pollen is approximately 40% protein with around half of its protein in the form of amino acids that are ready to be used directly by the body which is why I thought it would be perfect as the main ingredient in my smoothie recipe this week, my Bee Pollen Protein Shake Recipe.

Bee Pollen

What is bee pollen?

The bees collect pollen from the plant’s anthers, mix it with a small amount of their nectar, and place it in specific baskets that are situated on the shinbone of their hind legs. Once the pollen is collected, the bees bring it back to the hive where it is packed in the honeycomb cells. After that the surface of the collected pollen is covered with a small layer of honey wax, creating “bee bread.” This “bee bread” then starts to undergo anaerobic fermentation and is preserved by the arising lactic acid. This actually serves as the basic protein source for the bee colony.

Bee Pollen is richer in proteins then any animal source as well as containing more amino acids than beef, eggs or cheese of equal weight!

Supports Skin Health

With bee pollen’s high complete source of many vitamins and minerals, it can help keep your skin looking glowing and younger by stimulating the blood supply to each and every skin cell. As well as help the body detoxify, speed up the healing process, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and regenerate cells!

Did you know?  Bee Pollen cannot be synthesized in a laboratory. With all the attempts made by research there are just some elements that science cannot identify! The bees have their own mysterious special ingredients only they will know about!

Protein what does it do?

Protein is a macro-nutrient. Chemically, protein is composed of amino acids, which are organic compounds made of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen or sulfur.  When protein is broken down in the body it helps fuel and build muscle mass as well as repair tissues. You use proteins to make enzymes, hormones, and other body chemicals. It is an important building block for bones, muscles, cartilage, skin and blood. It also helps the immune system stay strong.
